Beliefs and Expectations

We believe that caring for and sharing in our unique community of children, staff, parents and friends enriches our lives. In order for this belief to take root and grow into a reality at Vernon Elementary School, we recognize that all members of the school community, both children and adults alike, share the following rights and responsibilities:

We have the right to learn and become life long learners. To this end, we work to be
the best learners we can be and look for ways to support others in their learning.

We have the right to be safe. To this end, we keep ourselves and other safe, in our work
and in our play.

We have the right to learn, work and play in a climate of respect. To this end, we use
language appropriately, listen respectfully, use resources thoughtfully and treat all people
with kindness and understanding.

We are responsible for our own actions. To this end, we learn that our actions affect others.
We try to make good decisions and to learn from our mistakes.
